Hello, New Year
I took a break from music and social media this past year, only peeking out for the occasional hi and bye.
I'd like to say that it was because I was getting back in shape from having Bell's Palsy and throat surgery, but there was a lot more behind it.
The truth is that I've been struggling with writing for months now, and I don't expect a "fix" any time soon. And that's okay.
I'm a blank page, and I'm more appreciative of that fact now that I've had some time to reflect on it. It doesn't mean that I don't sing anymore, quite the opposite actually. It doesn't mean that I don't play anymore either; I've been working on an ukulele arrangement of Puccini's Nessun Dorma for a bit and I'm happy with the progress.
Along with being more gentle with my fickle, creative side, I've also been working on my health. So far, I'm down 55 pounds! It's crazy to see photos from early 2017 compared to now. I still have quite a bit to go, but I understand that change comes from slow/steady decision making. Every day I make choices that I know will benefit future me.
And now comes the fun part, friends: I've been selected to play a NAMM stage this year. I can't believe it. I'll be playing the Hilton stage opening night, at 9PM with some great players backing me up and making me look a lot cooler than I am. I hope to see some familiar faces, because I know I'll be a little terrified getting back on a stage again.
Back on a stage. That feels good to type.

Just kidding. Bye.
